Conducting PET Bottle Recycling Activities with Gamba Osaka, Japan Professional Football League

Teijin Frontier collaborates with Gamba Osaka Co., Ltd., to recycle the used PET bottles collected at its match venues.
In this activity, we collect the used PET bottles at Gamba Osaka’s home matches in J1 League soccer and recycle the bottles into polyester fiber. The polyester fiber is then repurposed into products related to Gamba Osaka.
Student volunteers from a seminar group run by Otemon Gakuin University Professor Koji Mizuno man the collection locations at the stadium, call for participants’ support in separating their waste, remove the labels to make recycling easier and throw out any waste liquid.
This initiative helps to raise awareness toward the separation of waste, which Gamba Osaka and Otemon Gakuin University have been encouraging. It has also increased the amount of PET bottles recycled. Each year, around eight tons of PET bottles are recovered and recycled, equivalent to around 300,000 bottles. The effort is also promoting a better awareness of environmental activities among local residents, supporters and partner companies.
